Tansi,

It’s hard to believe that February has begun and we have already completed one half of our school year. Our High School students have begun began their second semester and our Junior High students only have one month before their next report card comes out; where does the time go?

Congratulations to all 35 of our Honour Students in High School for Semester 1. You have demonstrated Maskawatisowin, Sohkeyitamowin, and Kaskihowin (Character, Determination, and Success) at school and we are so proud of you. We are hoping to see even more students make the honour roll at the end of this semester in June. A student receives honours in a high school core subject course by earning a final grade of 80% or higher, by earning 5 credits in a CTS course (Food Studies, or Cosmetology for example) with an average of 80% or higher, or 3 credits in a course that is one block in length (Aboriginal Studies or Leadership for example) with an average of 80% or higher.

February is shaping up to be a busy month with our Basketball Teams entering the final month of their season of play, our High School students beginning their second semester classes, and Anti-Bullying Week and Pink Shirt Day Activities coming up the week of February 20th.

There will be a Parent Advisory Committee Meeting on Tuesday February 21, 2017 from 4:30 – 6:00 PM, and all parents are invited to attend. We will present our school’s results on Cree language and culture, Literacy, and Academic Achievement and invite input from parents on how we can make improvements. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.

Thank you to our parents and guardians for choosing our school. You are invited to join us for our morning Flag Song and Prayer any school day at 8:40 AM (except for Wednesday – 8:30 AM). Our School Drum Group performs the Flag Song live every morning and parents are always welcome to join us to share in this daily routine.

Ekosi,
