Ermineskin Elementary School library mission is: “ To foster every child’s exploration of the world by honoring the past, embracing the present and planning for the future”.

Our library program goal is to promotes the love of reading, inspire life-long readers and to foster independent library skills. Students visit once every six day cycle with their class. During their class time, students check out library books and practice information literacy skills. Classes also participate in resource based learning throughout the year.

The library serves about 650 students in Kindergarten through grade 6. Holdings include professional resources, books, magazines, videos, DVDs, audiobooks and music CDs, E-books and our  NEW Makerspace. There are approximately 20,000 items in our library catalogue. We hold two book fairs per year, with proceeds purchasing new books, and funding author and storyteller visits.

Literacy is not for the fortunate few. It is the right of EVERY child. Teaching children to read is not the responsibility of a chosen few. It is the responsibility of every teacher, every administrator and every parent. David Bouchard
