Principal's Message

Tansi,

The month of April was a quiet one with our Spring Break spread over two weeks with a lot of students and families away for year-end hockey tournaments. The school year is quickly coming to a close and we have only 27 days of school remaining in High School before final exams and only 36 days in Junior High. There is still time to set to work and improve grades before the end of the year but now is the time to GET IT DONE! Attendance is more important than ever and each and every lesson and class is important to learning key material. I encourage parents to ask about assignments, test scores and also about homework. Students should be reviewing and studying each night in order to get the most out of their education.

In sports, our Badminton Team is busy wrapping up their season and our Track & Field Team will be beginning practice and hoping the warm weather is in our future! Our school offers clubs and athletic opportunities that compare to any schools in the Wetaskiwin, Ponoka, or Maskwacis areas with 62% of our students indicating they had a high rate of Participation in School Sports; the Canada norm for these grades is 48% (according to the Tell Them From Me Student Survey conducted as part of our school evaluation this year). We also scored 6% above the Canadian norms for students participating in school clubs or activities. Thank you to all of our staff who have volunteered their time to make these opportunities and experiences possible.

Our school is one of the best and I encourage students to take advantage of the excellent education offered here at Ermineskin Junior Senior High. In order to receive top grades and make the most out of education, students must maintain excellent attendance (90% or higher), complete all assignments to the best of their ability, ask questions if they don't understand, study for tests in advance and get a good night's sleep each night. Please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. We believe our students are capable of great things and we enjoy working with students and families towards academic success. Let’s work together to make this a strong finish to the school year!

Ekosi,

Keith MacQuarrie

Principal

Please note:

We will be hosting our Open House on May 14th from 4-6 PM. This will be an opportunity for parents and community members to come and see our school as well as the programs, course offerings, sports teams, and clubs available next year. We will also have admission request forms available for the 2013 - 2014 school year.
