Emineskin Elementary Community School

Ermineskin Elementary School is proud to offer a quality Kindergarten to Grade 6 education to the children of Maskwacis. We serve approximately 640 students in our modern high tech facility. We offer a quality music program, an extensive counseling program, a full capacity library, a hot lunch program, and a very dynamic special education program that includes resource room support, 3 Eagle classrooms and Education Assistants to support students in all aspects of their school experience. We offer Cree as a Second Language classes and children participate in numerous Cree cultural activities throughout the year.

The Kindergarten program offers an integrated, inquiry based learning environment to approximately 160 four and five year olds. It is built upon the philosophy of educating the Cree child through exploration, learning based play, guided instruction, and using real life contexts to develop skills, knowledge and experiences for all students. Cree Integration is an area that is optimized and considered a priority in all classrooms.

The Eagles program is an adaptive program for students, with special education needs, who require individual programming as identified in their Individual Program Plan. The program encompasses the academic needs of the students, focusing mainly on LA and Math. However, the Eagles Program is uniquely designed to also address the personal growth of students by including life skills, social skills, and a wide array of outside classroom experiences. The intent of this program is to identify strengths in the students, develop positive self-concept, and provide opportunities for students to experience success in their educational experiences and to also prepare them for the world in which they live.

We are in every essence a "Cree community school”. It is our vision at Ermineskin Elementary School to provide a quality education that is fueled by quality instruction and sound methodology and to ensure Cree culture and language is regularly integrated. We do this by ensuring our teachers are well informed with new curriculum changes, providing quality professional development and maintaining strong staff morale.
